Only in Texas at Christmas. I saw this the other night and thought to myself, no one outside of Texas gets to experience the beauty of this sight and that is sad. A beautifully decorated, completely lit-up pump jack baby! If you do not jump on the chance to decorate your pumping unit are you even a true Texan?

To be honest, when you think about it, there are a few things we only do here in Texas at Christmas time that no other states have to deal with or would even think of doing during the holidays!

ONLY IN TEXAS DO YOU SEE THIS AT CHRISTMASTIME:

1. Don't expect snow just because it is the end of the year or because the song says we should all be having a 'white Christmas.' No snow until maybe February, IF we're lucky.

2. You may see a tumbleweed snowman in a person's front yard because we are good at improvising.

3. It is not unusual to see tractors pulling trailers in a Christmas parade carrying caroling children.

4. Does your mall or parade Santa wear cowboy boots or a cowboy hat and no one bats an eye. True story. Texas Santa is a cowboy!

5. Will you see a 'Western Christmas' theme of lights on your house or your tree. Some Texans decorate with rope, cowboy hats, and boots are a normal part of Christmas decor.

It's a great day to be a Texan! Born and raised, I think we have the best Christmas traditions by far. Merry Christmas and a safe, Happy New Year to everyone!
