Whoa! Does This Awesome City Have The Most Bed Bugs In Texas?
This is a list you don't want your city to be on. Who knew that this list was an annual thing? Apparently, Orkin puts out this list every year. Of course, Orkin knows a thing about BUGS, it's what they do. So, before we reveal the Texas city that takes the top spot for Texas. Let's figure out how they come up with this list.
HOW DO THEY DETERMINE WHICH CITY IS ON THE LIST?
Orkin determines which city is on the list by the number of treatments they do in each city. This list is comprised from December 1, 2020, thru November 30, 2021. The ranking includes both residential and commercial treatments. Pretty much they rank the top 50 cities for bed bugs by looking at how many people had to use exterminators over the past 12 months.
WHAT'S A BED BUG?
According to this article....
Typically, bed bugs are 3/16 inch long, red to dark brown in color and are mostly nocturnal insects that come out of hiding to take blood meals from sleeping humans. These pests are hematophagous, which means blood is their only food source. They can travel from place to place with ease, clinging to items such as luggage, purses and other personal belongings.
#1 ON THE LIST WAS CHICAGO
Well, at least a Texas city did not take the top spot. That goes to the city of Chicago. Apparently, they were #1 last year as well.
THE REST OF THE TOP 5
- 2. Philadelphia (+12)
- 3 New York (+9)
- 4. Detroit
- 5. Baltimore (-3)
