West Texans Give Their Hot Take On The Landman Series
If you are from West Texas, you have heard of the Landman series on Paramount+. The show is a huge success and has the numbers to prove it, but what do people from the oil field who live in West Texas think about it? I asked, and their responses surprised me.
LANDMAN GETS THE NOD FROM WEST TEXANS
I was shocked to see most people liked the series. West Texans can be picky about how they are portrayed, but most were satisfied with Billy Bob Thorton's portrayal of a Landman in the oil industry.
Locals also love the drama involving the oil fields even though it is greatly exaggerated. I saw several West Texans say that even though they know the explosions shown were excessive, they love it!
The local oil industry workers chimed in as well. Though the work done is inaccurate they still approve of the show. It is a drama series after all, not a documentary.
THE SMALL NEGATIVES
Even though everyone loves Landman so far as a whole, there are some things West Texans could have done without.
The common response from the locals was they could all live without the wife and daughter of Billy Bob Thorton's character. Most say that they are both too annoying. I have not seen the series but do want to see what they are talking about. Another common opinion is that Odessans were not pleased with the way they talked about Odeezy. They said Odessa should have been better represented.
Considering the good outweighs the bad, I would suggest watching the series. I'm not going to lie, they convinced me to get a Paramount+ subscription just to watch the show.
