Let's be real, if we are talking about beautiful areas in Texas, never would Midland or Odessa come up in that conversation but the Texas Hill Country, the charm of Canyon, TX, or Dripping Springs is another story. Outside of the Permian, there are so many beautiful areas to visit in our great state!

According to the Midland Reporter-Telegram, the magazine Travel and Leisure listed "the most beautiful place" in all 50 states, so what did they come up with for Texas? Seems like I remember at one time it was Big Bend National Park. Is that still the case?

Actually no. It is the Guadalupe Mountains.

The magazine reports that the Guadalupe Mountains are the "exposed tips" of the most preserved ancient reefs on Earth known as Captain Reef. Located in Guadalupe Mountains National Park which is located in the Chihuahuan Desert this area has nature walks and you can enjoy the sights from "The Top of Texas" as Guadalupe Peak is known.

Wow, just wow! Judging from these photos, I can see why this area of Texas is considered so beautiful. The rock formations, the colors, and the scenery would be quite breathtaking because I can honestly say I have never been to see it in person.

Add this to my Texas travel bucket list for sure. The closest major city to Guadalupe Mountains National Park is El Paso, so you're looking at about a 4-hour drive to El Paso then make the drive to this remote area.
