UPDATE: Wow, I remember writing this article a couple of years ago when former Odessa College standout Abraham Ancer had just won his 1st major PGA Tour Title. Since then he has made even bigger strides. Born in McAllen, TX, Ancer currently plays with LIV Golf. He played 1 year at OC before turning pro in 2013.

Aside from a thriving golf career and many more tournaments on the horizon, Ancer teamed up with actor Mark Wahlberg and Aron Marquez to create Flecha Azul tequila! Check out this amazing article on golf.com on how it all came to be.

In the last few months, the Permian Basin has celebrated several young, talented athletes for their hard work and achievements that have without a doubt garnered the attention of the nation. Worldwide even, as Bryce Hoppel and Natalie Hinds just competed in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics making everyone in the 432 beyond proud! Then, there is Abraham Ancer...

The former Odessa College standout just won his 1st major PGA Tour title on Sunday, after having played in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Abraham was actually born in south Texas and has an extensive golfing career that collegiate-wise began at OC. From 2009-2010, according to Wikipedia, Ancer

was a first-team All-American and finished in a tie for second in the Junior College National Golf Championship.

From Odessa College he continued pursuing his love of golf at the University of Oklahoma. He graduated from college in 2013 and turned pro the same year.

Last week Ancer played in the World Golf Championships-FedEx St. Jude Invitational held in Memphis, TN and ultimately he pulled off a win defeating the 2021 Master champion Hideki Mutsayama.

30-year-old Ancer is yet another pro athlete that we will be watching for to do great things on the PGA Tour circuit. Godspeed Abraham!
