If there was one thing I could go back and tell my 18-year-old self it would be, 'girl, don't mess up your credit or it will come back to bite you one day!' I'm sure many of us feel that way, but when every credit company starts throwing credit cards at your newly legal, naive self, what is a person to do? Charge, charge, charge away! I mean, who among us?

So in your 30's, 40's, and beyond, it hits you, and you think back to your carefree days, wow, I really should have been more careful.

So where do you fall in terms of average credit scores? We typically don't know until it is time to make that big purchase. A new car, a new home, something that requires the dreaded (by some) credit check.

So let's break it down as to where you should be by a certain age:

25-40 686

41-56 705

57-75 740

and to be honest, unless your kids have put you down as a co-signer on every single thing they own and have destroyed your credit, beyond 75, your credit score should be stellar! A+

And actually, according to localprofile.com, Texas has the 6th worst credit scores in the entire US! Geez, not even in the top 5, bummer.
