How about a vacation that offers your family a one-of-a-kind zoo-i-logical animal adventure. Crocodile Encounter is a unique animal park just 30 minutes away from downtown Houston. This has to be one of Houston's best-kept secrets. I visit Houston yearly and have never heard of this place and you know if it comes to animal interaction, I want to be there, especially if it involves alligators or crocodiles.

Crocodile Encounter offers so much more than just crocodiles. Your family can meet gators, wild hogs, and giant tortoises.  You can take a guided tour or roam the park freely. Self-guided tours are $15 for adults and $12 for kids (3-12). Guided tours are $20 for adults and $15 for kids.

If you take the guided tour, you can get a front-row seat to feed time and get some quality interaction time with some of the animals, and have your picture taken with a baby alligator.

One of the biggest attractions at the park is the ancient giant tortoises that want nothing more than love and affection, and to become friends. Food is available for purchase so the family can get up close and personal with the tortoises. They love fresh produce, especially carrots. As soon as you step into their space and they figure out you have food for them, they will come running, well as fast as tortoises can. LOL
