Odessa, Texas Nonprofit Tackles Homelessness With Super Bowl Watch Party

Homelessness is an issue just about everywhere, not just in Odessa, Texas. However, this is not about how other cities combat homelessness.  We have our own problems in the 432 in terms of what to do about it.

The non-profit Odessa Links has come up with a creative way to raise capital for homeless people living in the Permian Basin. Since this weekend is the Super Bowl, they are hosting a Super Bowl watch party slash fundraiser rightfully dubbed as "The Big Game Watch Party".

This isn't your typical Super Bowl watch party.  Sure, the traditional things found at any given party on Super Sunday will be there such as food, snacks, and drinks.  With this event, you can possibly walk away with some serious prizes.

Festivities

The party will begin with the traditional tailgate which will include a pregame meal, games, a raffle, and even an option of purchasing squares in hopes of winning some money.

But the BIG TICKET item is a raffle in which they will be giving away a 2024 Ford Bronco.

In Conclusion:

As great and fun as all this sounds, the funds raised by the event are put towards taking local families off the street.  Which is obviously more important than watching a bunch of millionaires throw around a pigskin on television.  We wish Odessa Links success in their watch parties and look forward to seeing this watch party develop into an annual event.
