Lil Tecca, Common, Sir and More: New Projects This Week
Several anticipated projects premiered over the course of the last seven days. Look below to check out all of the freshly released albums, mixtapes and EPs of the week.
Off the strength of his breakthrough single, “Ran$om,” Lil Tecca locks in his first placement in the top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week. As the hit record, which has brought in well over 100 million plays on Spotify and YouTube and has been remixed by Juice Wrld, also tops Billboard’s Streaming Songs chart for the first time, the emerging rap star unleashes his first full-length project, We Love You Tecca. Prior to dropping the awaited project, the New York native told XXL what listeners could expect.
“Every song that’s going to be on the project is hand-picked by me,” said Tecca. “No one else’s opinion got nothing to do with it. It was all me.”
Common is guided by the heart for his 12th album, Let Love. The 11-song project, featuring the singles “Show Me That You Love,” “Her Love” and “Hercules,” houses contributions from Swizz Beatz, Jill Scott, Daniel Caesar and BJ The Chicago Kid, and follows the release of the Grammy, Academy and Golden Globe Award-winning artist’s book by the name of Let Love Have the Last Word.
Sir steps out from under the Top Dawg Entertainment umbrella to present his latest album, Chasing Summer. The smooth vocals of the singer-songwriter from Inglewood, Calif. have in the past been featured alongside platinum artists such ScHoolboy Q and Kendrick Lamar, who appears on Chasing Summer’s first single, “Hair Down.” The likes of Lil Wayne, Boi-1da and Jill Scott also contribute to the multifaceted crooner’s 14-track sophomore album.
