We are approaching the end of our supermoon season for 2024. The next full moon is widely known as the Beaver Moon. It is the last of the four consecutive moons for this year and will be on November 15th.

November is a good month to see Jupiter through a telescope. In mid-month, it will rise about a half hour after twilight ends so you will have plenty of time to see it through the night. You will also be able to see some shooting stars. Catch part of the Taurids and the Leonis will be visible on November 17th. Be warned the light of the full moon may make them hardly visible.

The Beaver Moon got its name because beavers began to build their dams this time of year before the first ground freeze. Beavers were known to be active around this time which would signify the first and early frosts were soon to happen. The moons' other names come from the frost theory as well. Its other names are The Frost Moon, Frosty Moon, or the Snow Moon.

The peak time to catch the supermoon in Texas will be November 15th at 3:29 pm. If you can't catch the exact time, The Moon will appear full for about 3 days from Early Thursday, November 14th to the early hours of Sunday morning on the 17th.
