Halloween can be one of those holidays that can be stressful for your pets. So what measures can we take as pet parents to help with that stress? Here are some tips to help keep your fur baby stress-free this spooky season:

NO HALLOWEEN TREATS

According to The Humane Society, avoid giving your pet any candy. They will give you sad eyes but you must resist! Also, watch the kids so they don't share their treats with their furry best friend. As a precaution, keep the candy stash somewhere your furry/human kids can't access.

BRING  YOUR PETS INDOORS

Though it may be fun for us to dress up for Halloween, our pets may get overstimulated with all the costumes and noise from the trick-or-treaters. Bringing inside will help reduce the stress of strangers approaching the yard. This will also protect trick-or-treaters that come to your house.

PICK THE RIGHT COSTUME FOR YOUR PET

Even though it's fun to dress your pet up for Halloween, this can be a danger. Costumes with headgear may be uncomfortable for your pet, so make sure to read their body language appropriately. Some costumes have small parts that your pet can choke on, so constantly check on your fur baby while they have their costume on.

GET YOUR PETS ARE CHIPPED OR TAGGED

Taking the extra step by having your pet chipped or that they have tags with all of your information is probably one of the most important steps. Even though you may do everything to make your fur baby comfortable this Halloween, you can't help it if they are startled and manage to escape. Having them chipped or with tags will help if they get lost and a friendly neighbor finds them.
