El Paso’s Pillow Fight Fundraiser Is Back And Bigger Than Ever
Some fundraisers hand you a pamphlet and ask for a check. Mijo-Palooza hands you a pillow and tells you to swing.
The Buzzzed Podcast's annual Pillow Fight Fundraiser is back. This year it's Mijo-Palooza, because the night belongs to the Mijo Things Foundation. Now in its 4th year, the event has become one of El Paso's most anticipated community traditions, blending local celebrity matchups, live professional wrestling, family-friendly chaos, and a genuine heart for giving back into one unforgettable night. And yes, pillows are involved. Real ones. Swung hard.
Hosted by The Buzzzed Podcast, Mijo-Palooza returns on Saturday, May 16, at The Yard Patio Beer Garden on Montana Avenue, raising funds for the Mijo Things Foundation, a local organization dedicated to uplifting communities through sports and philanthropy.
Your Boy Grizz Was the Main Event Last Year, And Came Out On Top
Full disclosure: I have a personal stake in this event.
Last year's Pillow Fight Fundraiser for The Jazz Exchange tapped me as a featured fighter, and I was not going to let El Paso down. My opponent? Dario the Delicious One, a longtime El Paso radio personality and producer at Mix 92.7 with serious credibility in the local media scene. The crowd was loud. The pillows were soft. The competition was not.
Your boy won.
I'm not saying I'm the reigning pillow fight champion of El Paso. But I'm also not saying I'm not. What I can say is that when the Pillow Fight Fundraiser calls, you answer, because this event is the real deal. It's one of those nights where the community shows up for each other in the most entertaining way possible, and the cause behind it makes every swing mean something.
This Year's Lineup Is Stacked
The 4th Annual Mijo-Palooza is bringing out some of El Paso's most recognizable faces for a night of pillow-fueled showdowns and professional wrestling action.
On the podcast side, two El Paso media heavyweights are set to throw down: Louie Zamorano, the voice behind Death in a Hoodie, goes up against Jonny Lozano of A Town Talk. Both men are beloved in the local podcast community, which means this particular fight is going to hit different.
And because one combat sport isn't enough for one night, Nation of Wrestling is also on the card, bringing their brand of high-flying, hard-hitting El Paso pro wrestling to the evening. Nation of Wrestling is widely recognized as one of El Paso's premier wrestling promotions, and their matches never disappoint.
Expect more local celebrity matchups, crowd energy through the roof, and a lineup that proves El Paso's community spirit is absolutely undefeated.
It's a Family Night With a Purpose
One of the things that makes Mijo-Palooza stand out is that it's genuinely all-ages. This is not a night just for the 21-plus crowd. Bring the kids, bring the cousins, bring anyone who has ever wanted to watch someone they recognize from Instagram get hit with a pillow for charity.
Throughout the night, guests can take part in raffles featuring giveaways and surprises. Organizers are encouraging everyone to arrive early, bring their energy, and get ready for what they describe as "somewhere between a backyard wrestling fever dream and a neighborhood carnival powered by heart." That is the most accurate sentence I have ever read about an El Paso event.
All proceeds go to the Mijo Things Foundation, which connects athletes, sponsors, and volunteers to create programs that inspire real change in the community.
