(KNUE-FM) There is a Texas state trooper based in South Texas who is now facing a federal charge after an undercover investigation showed that he allegedly engaged in a sexual conversation with an FBI agent posing as a 12-year-old girl on the social media platform Snapchat.

Texas Trooper Facing Federal Charges

According to KXAN, the trooper is 39-year-old Laredo resident Christian Estrada, and the official charges include enticement and solicitation of a minor, according to federal court records from the Southern District of Texas.

The FBI undercover investigation took place from April to December 2025.

While the investigation was taking place an FBI employee engaged with a person using the name ‘dopehound’ online on Snapchat, Reddit, and Telegram. Estrada is believed to be the user behind that name.

FBI Undercover Investigation Details

Court documents show that the user “dopehound” admitted to an undercover FBI account that he has previously had sex with a 13-year-old girl in a neighboring city. During conversations, the user ‘dopehound’ showed interest in the undercover employee’s fake 12-year-old daughter.

The user went as far as setting up a meeting with the 12-year-old girl to engage in sexual activities and asked for nude or sexual photos of the girl at multiple times.

Around November 28, 2025, “dopehound” initiated a conversation with someone he believed to be a 12-year-old girl, but it was an undercover Snapchat controlled by the FBI. The young girl was asked to send, “sexy pics”.

The username “dopehound” on Reddit admitted to being a “cop” for “16 years” and lived in North Laredo. He also provided information about his height, weight, and where he went to school.

On December 16, 2025, the FBI got a subpoena from Reddit Inc. to find the true identity of “dopehound.” The subpoena showed the Reddit account had IP logs linked

Search Warrant and Evidence Collected

A search warrant was executed on January 8. Estrada admitted the personal information shared on Reddit and identified the username “dopehound” as his Telegram username.

Estrada is scheduled to appear in court next for a final pre-trial conference on April 7.
