Let me start by saying that I don’t have kids so this will not be something that I deal with on a personal level, which is why I wanted to hear your opinion. We heard a few weeks ago about a principal in Overton, Texas who was arrested and charged with assault after paddling one of his female students. The student had the option of taking In School Suspension and a parent was present for the paddling, but it was still found to be an arrestable offence. After this incident took place, it made me think if it’s time to do away with paddling all together at schools.

This topic is difficult because I truly see both sides on this. I am a firm believer that people need to be held responsible for their actions, and if you break the rules there needs to be consequences. Although, if the actions are so severe that the kid's parents believe that a paddling is in order, shouldn’t that come from the parents not from an administrator?

Teachers Can’t Do Much to Discipline Kids Anymore

When my co-host and I speak with teachers and administrators on the radio, we often hear about the disrespect and even bullying that is taking place, but they are not allowed to truly take action. Which gives these misbehaving kids no consequences when they are acting up.

What Do You Think About Paddling Students at School?

There are still school districts that allow parents to sign a paper that will allow school administrators to paddle their kids if they are misbehaving. Do you think it’s time for this to end in school, or do you see it as a good punishment to make sure kids understand that behavior will not be tolerated.

I will say that my father used his belt on me and my siblings only twice that I can remember, and it never scared me as an adult. But this isn’t about me.
