A 1 Million Dollar Powerball Ticket Sold In Texas Expires Saturday

Somewhere out there is a winning Powerball ticket worth $1 million. However, this Friday, July 31, at 5 p.m., that valuable ticket will be worth nothing. That's because the deadline for turning in that ticket to a Texas Lottery claim center is fast approaching, and someone who spent $2 for this ticket is now in dire danger of losing out on a $999,998 profit.

The Powerball Drawing on February 2, 2026

The jackpot was worth $65 million for the Powerball drawing on February 2. Nobody matched all 6 winning numbers for the top payout, but a ticket matching all five of the white ball numbers drawn (3-8-31-60-65), but not the red Powerball number (4), was sold in Texas. That million-dollar ticket was purchased at the Circle K convenience store located at 6107 W. Parmer Lane in Austin. It would seem to be a safe assumption that the winning ticket was bought by someone who lives in the Austin Metro, but that person has yet to turn the ticket in.

What Happens To Unclaimed Winning Tickets For 'Draw Games'?

A ticket holder forfeits any claim to a prize for a draw game, such as Powerball, after the passing of the 180th day following the draw date. For the February 2 drawing, the expiration date is Saturday, August 1; however, due to the claim center's office hours, the deadline to validate this winning ticket is 5 p.m on Friday, July 31. Unclaimed prizes revert to the state of Texas for programs authorized by the Texas Legislature.

So, where could that ticket be? It may be folded in someone's wallet or purse, possibly in that holding bin between the front two seats of a vehicle, or worse yet, buried in the middle of a central Texas landfill. If you know someone in the Austin area, you may want to reach out to them and ask them if they buy game tickets from that Circle K store. It could be a question that saves someone $1 million.
