We’re all feeling the heat this summer. Although we finally did break our streak of 100-degree temperatures in Central Texas, we also just entered the hottest month of the year.

We do have a chance for some rain this week, but the heat isn't going anywhere for a while. According to KWTX, as of last month there was a total of 34 days with triple-digit temperatures in Texas for 2022.

Hottest Summer in Texas

Let's take a look a the hottest temps ever in the Lone Star State from SaveOnEnergy's list of the top five hottest days recorded in Texas history.

The summer of 1980 was a record summer in Texas as temperatures soared into unbelievably high numbers in Dallas and Fort Worth. The average Texas high in June clocks in around 92 degrees, but on two consecutive days in June 1980 (26th and 27th), an official temperature of 113 degrees was recorded in the Metroplex.

In Wichita Falls, the temperature reached 117 degrees. For 10 consecutive days in Wichita Falls in 1980, the recorded temperature was over 110 degrees, according to coolweather.net.

Hottest Day in Texas History

The heatwave of 1994 was brutal, but the summer of 1936 is the earliest period of super-heated temps recorded in Texas history. The record high temperature for Texas is 120° Fahrenheit, set in 1936 and tied in 1994.

On August 12th, 1936, the cities of both Fort Worth and Seymour had temperatures that reached 120 degrees, according to saveonenergy.com.

So what can we expect for this winter? Will it be a repeat of Snowpocalypse 2021? According to the Farmer's Almanac, it will be chilly, but with normal amounts of precipitation.
