Former Texas Tech Coach Kliff Kingsbury Gets Contract Extension From Arizona

The Arizona Cardinals have extended the contract for Kliff Kingsbury.

According to The Spun, Kliff Kingsbury will remain the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals till 2027.

Kingsbury agreed to the contract extension and a contract extension was also agreed to by Kingsbury's immediate supervisor General Manager Steve Keim.

Cardinals owner Michael Bidwell said on a local sports radio program this past Friday that Kingsbury's NFL future is bright.

“I feel like he’s had an adjustment period, had a few years to adjust and I feel like he’s going to get better and better because I feel like he understands the pro rules and the pro game and the pro speed and everything else much better than he did a couple of years ago,” said Bidwill.

Kingsbury led the Cardinals to a combined 13 wins in his first two seasons with the team but last year they started out 7-0 and ended up 11-6 and an appearance in the NFC Wildcard playoff game where they lost to the team that would become the Super Bowl 56 Champions, the Los Angeles Rams.

Now that the two main contracts are out of the way, focus can turn to Kyler Murray who has expressed interest to have a contract extension which led his agent Erik Burkhardt to release a statement on Monday.

“Looking ahead, Kyler believes that in order to consistently compete for championships, and ultimately deliver the valley their first Super Bowl in 33+ years, there needs to be long term stability for both the organization and himself,” read the statement.

Maybe all will work out and the three main ingredients for the Cardinals' success can be back with the team come time for the kickoff of the 2022 season.
