Why did Madonna post a photo of her head bizarrely Photoshopped onto a random person's body?

On Thursday (March 11), TikTok user @ameliamgoldie shared a video which revealed that, a few years ago, the legendary pop star used a photo of her body for an Instagram post to promote her 2015 record, Rebel Heart.

Amelia, a 28-year-old woman from Australia, compared the photo of Madonna with her original photo, which she posted to Instagram prior to Madonna. (Madonna shared her strange edit to Instagram on May 1, 2015.) The photos are seemingly identical aside from their faces.

"When Madonna photoshops her face onto your body (never thought that’d be a sentence I’d say)," she captioned the TikTok video. The TikTok clip has over 1 million views so far.

Amelia also shared an unnamed magazine article that features the side-by-side images with the headline, "Madonna stole my body!"

According to the TikToker, she found out about Madonna's body-snatching pic when she started getting tagged in the image on Instagram. "I was sitting at home and suddenly some of my Instagram followers noticed the photo was mine (at the time I had a little bit of a following, maybe 20K) so much they recognized my photograph and tagged me in it,” she told Music Junkee. “I thought it was a joke! Then realized it wasn’t possible because it was her official account.”

Amelia told the outlet that she reached out to Madonna's team at the time but never heard back.

At the time of this article's publication, Madonna's Instagram post is still live.
