Chance the Rapper Confirms Joint Album With Kanye West Is on the Way
After Kanye West collaborator, Francis & The Lights let it slip earlier this week that a joint album with Chance the Rapper and Kanye is in the works, Chance has confirmed that the two Chicago artists do indeed have a new collaborative project on the way.
Like the most of the Kanye-produced albums released over the course of five weeks, Chance says his 'Ye-assisted project will also be seven tracks.
"What’s cool is Ye’s kind of got me in a mode of understanding, just, your ability to multitask and work on different things,” Chance said of his longtime friend in a new episode of Complex’s "Open Late with Peter Rosenberg."
Chance dropped more big news in the interview, confirming that his much-talked-about collaboration with Childish Gambino is officially in the works as well. He says that both projects are about 30 percent finished.
“Kanye is my favorite rapper that I followed without knowing for a long time, and Donald Glover was the first rapper who was like, ‘Come on tour with me,'" Chano said.
However, his project with Gambino, which is currently about six songs, will be longer than his collab with Kanye. He says it'll be around 14 tracks.
With Kanye recently revealing that he wants to release 52 albums in 52 weeks, it looks like the Chance project could be coming sooner than later, although he didn't say exactly when the collab is expected to drop. The upcoming projects will be Chance's first project since his 2016 joint mixtape with R&B singer Jeremih called, Merry Christmas Lil Mama.
Meanwhile, Kanye is musically changed this year. Over the past five weeks, West released his eighth studio album, Ye, which hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200, dropped a joint album Kid Cudi, Kids See Ghosts, as well as produced Nas' NASIR, Pusha-T's DAYTONA, and Teyana Taylor's Keep That Same Energy albums.
