Everyone always says why can't we get big acts to come to Midland/Odessa? Now the big artist get paid a lot more money to play in bigger venues in bigger cities. It's all about the money and how many tickets they can sell. But what you may not know is that some of the biggest artists of all time have played at the Ector County Coliseum.  In fact, Elvis Presley played the coliseum not long before he passed away.  The Ector County Coliseum didn't discriminate against any genre of music. So many historically huge acts have played there throughout the years.

I remember going to see George Strait there many times. I also saw Kenny Chesney open for Clay Walker back in 1998. It was the first concert my mom let me go to without her. I got to go with my friends. Another thing I remember was tickets only being $15-$18. People would camp out in front of the coliseum sometimes for days just to get tickets to a show. For all you young guns out there that's how you had to buy concert tickets. You actually had to do to the venue or maybe another local retailer had them for sale.

Over the years the Ector County Coliseum has seen many of the most famous names in music walk through its doors. Names like Elvis Presley, Metallica, Conway Twitty, George Jones, and the Beach Boys.

Tell me what concerts you went to over the years at the Ector County Coliseum. Who was your favorite artist you have ever seen there? Mine should be no shock to you..... it was Reba.
