Their readers voted, determined their 'Best of Travel Awards', and when it comes to steakhouses, Texas is representing!

Best Steak in Texas

There was a time when steak was simply reserved for a special occasion or celebration meal in my house. We grew up mostly on hamburger meat, so when Dad fired up the grill, it was usually for a special event like a birthday (or someone was coming over and he wanted to serve something other than Hamburger Helper).

Back in those days, we didn't know the difference between good steak and bad steak. It was all good!

As an adult, I have figured out that there is a difference. I have gone from eating my steak covered in A1 sauce to simply enjoying the taste of the meat itself, lightly seasoned and cooked to 'medium-ish' perfection.

TravelAwaits 'Best of Travel' Awards

One of the best things about the TravelAwaits list is that their readers are the ones doing the voting, not some stodgy guy who may be having a bad day or simply wasn't in the mood for a particular side-dish while judging the main course.

Best Steakhouse

Let's cut to the meat here. The Lone Star State did very well. In fact, two out of the top five favorite steakhouses were here in Texas.

The winner was The Cedar Room in North Platte, Nebraska with the French Dip and the Salted Caramel Lava Cake as the must haves.

Coming in at number two: Cattlemen’s Steakhouse in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The Onion-Fried Burger and the 'Presidential' T-Bone Steak come highly recommended.

Number three: Myron’s Prime Steakhouse in New Braunfels, Texas with featured dishes Bone-in Ribeye and Jalapeno Mac & Cheese.

Number four was also a Texas based restaurant: Dallas' Pappas Bros. Steakhouse. Lobster Deviled Eggs, Lamb Chops, Lobster Mac & Cheese and Pecan Pie all come highly recommended.

All sound like great choices, but I'm particularly excited to get to Myron’s Prime Steakhouse in New Braunfels, Texas which also named runner up in their 2022 Best of Travel Awards best small towns to visit in the U.S.

Road trip anyone?

Who Are The 5 Richest People in Texas, Not Counting Elon Musk?

There are more billionaires in America than in any other country, according to Stacker. For some people, the money just keeps pouring in, as Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos is projected to become the world’s first trillionaire by 2026.

However, Bezos is not the world's richest person right now. That title goes to the founder of SpaceX, Tesla, and the new owner of Twitter, Elon Musk. Musk owns a mansion in Austin but says his main home is a $50,000 rental from SpaceX in Boca Chica, Texas.

Forbes lists 63 billionaires in Texas, including Elon Musk. Let's find out who's at the top of the list in the Lone Star State for 2022, right behind Musk.
