Travis Scott, Meek Mill and More Take Part in NBA Star James Harden’s Charity Basketball and Softball Games
Houston was lit this weekend thanks to NBA star James Harden's second annual JH-Town Weekend, which included appearances from Travis Scott, Meek Mill and more.
The three-day event kicked off on Friday with a comedy show at the Arena Theater that featured comedians DC Young Fly, Michael Blackson and DeRay Davis, but the highlights of the weekend were the charity softball and basketball games on Saturday and Sunday.
The Astroworld rapper showed off his athletic skills during Saturday's game, knocking a ball out of the park as his music played in the background. La Flame was so excited about his home run that he even did a cartwheel while rounding the bases.
Sunday was all about basketball, as Scott and Meek went head-to-head, showing off their moves. During one play, Meek backed Scott down in the paint, scoring on him, but Travis was able to answer back, displaying his handles and then pulling up for a three-point shot.
During the basketball game, it appears 21 Savage was also in attendance, and he went head-to-head with Russell Westbrook and unfortunately got a shot packed by the NBA star.
Aside from making three-pointers and hitting home runs, Travis Scott has been riding high since the release of his Astroworld album. After debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, the project once again earned the top spot for a second week, holding off Nicki Minaj's Queen.
While the numbers for Astroworld were down 62 percent in its second week, the record was still able to earn 205,000 equivalent album units, of which 78,000 came from traditional album sales.
In related news, Meek Mill recently partnered with Philadelphia 76ers co-owner Michael Rubin to launch a criminal justice reform foundation. Rubin revealed the news a bit early during an interview with Bleacher Report, saying, "So we're taking on the whole criminal justice system now, and we're gonna be announcing a major foundation soon."
