Lil’ Kim Joins Christina Aguilera for Surprise Performance of “Lady Marmalade”
Seventeen years ago, Lil' Kim, Christina Aguilera, Mýa and Pink delivered an epic, pop-hip-hop crossover moment when they dropped off "Lady Marmalade," a hit single they recorded for the Moulin Rouge! soundtrack. Yesterday (Oct. 3), Xtina recreated the moment when she brought out the Queen Bee to perform the track alongside her during the Madison Square Garden stop of her Liberation Tour.
Performing in front of a packed MSG, Kim flaunted her famous diva swagger as she strutted across the stage and spit the lyrics to the timeless track, which is actually a reimagining of a classic 1974 Patti Labelle song. For her part, Aguilera, who collabed with Ty Dolla $ign and 2 Chainz earlier this year, looked more than a little excited to have Kim rejoin her on the stage.
Back in 2001, just a bit over a month after the Moulin Rouge! soundtrack popped up in stores, Xtina, Kim, Mýa and Pink performed "Lady Marmalade" at the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards. They crew went on to perform the Grammy-winning track at the 2002 Grammy Awards as well. They haven't all reunited since, but maybe it can still happen. We can only hope.
