Lil Jon's loud booming voice and high energy makes him the perfect guy to give a pep talk and that's just what he did when he stopped by the University of Tennessee recently to give its football team, the Vols, a thank you speech for playing so well and converting on third downs.

The dreadlocked rapper's visit took the players completely by surprise, after coach Butch Jones began talking about stepping up their third down play. He then cranked the volume up on Jon's ubiquitous hit 'Turn Down for What.' At that point, the Atlanta native casually walked in to the room, to the entire team's amazement. They even gave Jon a standing ovation.

"Yeah this is me," he said, just in case the players thought he was an imposter. "So I'm in town. I had to come and say what up to y'all man and commend y'all on you know what y'all been doing this year on these third downs. I mean y'all been stepping up but we gotta tighten it up a little bit more though. We got Kentucky coming up.  I just want to say what up and just give y'all some love right here in the flesh."

Some might be surprised the boisterous rhymer didn't give a more energetic pep talk, and go all out for his speech, but from the looks of it he was tired. Coach Jones said he had to catch another flight, so it's possible he was in a rush.

But either way, the visit is something team members will probably never forget, and only time will tell if his words will inspire the Vols to turn up on the field.
