Lil Baby and Gunna are one of the tightest duos in hip-hop today, and now we're one step closer to understanding why.

During an interview with 16Bars posted Monday (July 15), Lil Baby opens up about an unknown detail about his extensive friendship with the 2019 XXL Freshman. During their conversation, the Atlanta rapper reveals that he used to pay Gunna at least $100 to write him songs so that he could develop his skills as a rapper.

"[Gunna] was already rapping so I kicked it with him and started fucking with him. Then I started rapping, and he actually started to helping me rap," Lil Baby reveals. "I done paid Gunna to write my songs. I never put the songs out but like when I first started rapping I used to pay him like $100 like 'I'ma give you a $100 write something for me so I can try to learn to go in and record it.' I ain't never recorded the songs and put them out but that's how I used to practice and try to get it right because I just started rapping out of nowhere."

None of the songs Gunna wrote for Lil Baby have been recorded.  However, the songs Lil Baby and Gunna have dropped via his Harder Than Ever project. Their joint project Drip Harder is a perfect example of how good of a teacher Gunna was to the "Close Friends" rapper.
