The World Cup frenzy continues in the borderland with many local bars continuing to host watch parties, but not every soccer fan wants to spend World Cup match day inside a crowded sports bar.

Fortunately, there are several family-friendly and community-focused viewing experiences planned throughout the Borderland that allow fans of all ages to enjoy the action together.

As World Cup excitement continues to build, organizers across El Paso and Ciudad Juárez are creating opportunities for fans to gather outdoors, watch matches on big screens, and experience the energy that makes the tournament one of the most celebrated sporting events in the world.

Cleveland Square Park World Cup Watch Party

Due to popular demand, The FIFA World Cup Watch Party is coming to Downtown El Paso for both the Mexico and USA games this week!

Fans are invited to gather at Cleveland Square Park (510 N. Santa Fe St.) on Tuesday, June 30th at 6:30 p.m. as Mexico takes on Ecuador.

Organizers are encouraging attendees to bring lawn chairs, wear their team colors, and enjoy an evening of soccer in the heart of downtown.

The free community event will feature giveaways, snacks, player card collecting and trading, and a family-friendly atmosphere designed for fans of all ages. The match broadcast will be provided in Spanish by Telemundo 48 El Paso.

The event is presented by the City of El Paso Parks and Recreation Department, Telemundo 48 El Paso, and the Mexican American Cultural Center.

The Borderland's Closest Thing to a World Cup Fan Fest

If you're looking for a viewing experience that feels closer to the official FIFA Fan Festivals seen in host cities, Ciudad Juárez may be your best bet.

City officials plan to host public watch parties at Estadio 8 de Diciembre in the Chamizal area and near Plaza de la Mexicanidad as part of a larger "Distrito Futbolero," or Football District.

The concept is designed to bring together soccer fans for a shared World Cup experience featuring giant screens, public gatherings, and communal celebrations. For many Borderland residents, it may offer the closest experience to the atmosphere fans would find in an actual World Cup host city.

Locations include:

  • Estadio 8 de Diciembre – Chamizal, 32300 Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua
  • Plaza de la Mexicanidad – Calle Soneto 156 & Avenida Lote Bravo, 32575 Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua
