El Paso’s East Side is getting a taste of something fancy and new and if you are a fan of the hit Netflix Series, Bridgerton, then this place is definitely for you!

Gossip & Tea with Elizabeth is an English-inspired tea house created by a local husband-and-wife duo, who traded careers in education to pursue a dream of their own.

For Elizabeth, the idea came during a tough time in her life that prompted her to rethink her happiness and future. She wanted to find joy again and she was determined to live everyday loving what she does, and that’s when Gossip & Tea with Elizabeth was born!

Elizabeth worked in education since she was 18. Although she loved being an educator, the long days would become overwhelming at times. Last year, a frightening medical emergency would become the turning point in her life to make her realize she needed to make a career change.

While at work, Elizabeth’s blood sugar dropped and doctors also detected a heart arrhythmia. Although medical testing did not reveal a clear cause, the health scare was enough for Elizabeth to stop and reflect on her well-being and to start living the life she wanted to build.

“I wanted to find joy for myself and to live every day loving what I do,” Elizabeth shared.

Inspired by traditional English tea houses, Elizabeth began researching the concept and envisioned bringing something different to El Paso. The borderland is a city where coffee culture dominates, but Elizabeth wanted to offer something different and unique.

She shared the idea with her husband, who had also faced challenges working in a school district. Together, they decided to take a leap of faith and pursue a new venture.

Their backgrounds in education continue to shape the way they would approach their new business, with a focus on serving others and creating meaningful connections.

Gossip & Tea aims to be more than a place to enjoy tea and sweet treats. It is designed to be a welcoming space where friends can gather, new relationships can form and guests can enjoy a little time away from the everyday hustle.

One customer described the atmosphere as “like walking into a castle made for a princess.”

Elizabeth also hopes to build lasting partnerships with local entrepreneurs, vendors and small businesses, collaborating to showcase their work and bring unique experiences to the community.

“I hope that the community enjoys Gossip & Tea and supports it for more to come, because we would not be able to be here if it is not for the community,” Elizabeth said.

With Gossip & Tea, this former educator and her husband are proving that sometimes a new beginning starts with a little courage, a shared dream and a cup of tea!
