Spring is in the air and if you're planning to head for the great outdoors, be careful. These parts of Texas and New Mexico are crawling ... ok, slithering ... with rattlesnakes.

As the weather warms up, folks start heading out and some parts of Texas and Mew Mexico have a not so pleasant surprise waiting for visitors. Be real careful where you walk this spring and summer because these parts of Texas and New Mexico are absolutely infested with rattlers.

First up, remember ... rattlesnakes have a bit  of a bad rep that's mostly undeserved. They're not out to kill you, they'd actually prefer to not have anything to do with us at all.

If you come across a rattlesnake, just back calmly away. (Do it slowly too, where there's one, there's probably another.) They won't chase you down, just leave it alone and it will leave you alone.

Rattlesnakes live all over the country and, if you come across one accidentally, it could go bad for you. Along with the warmer weather and the snakes waking up; more peeps are going on vacation ... here are the national park areas where you'll find the most rattlers.
