No Beans, Big Flavor: The Best Chili in Texas Is Here

While I can scarf down a bowl of chili any time of year, we’re headed into fall, which, for my money, is the best season for a nice hot bowl of chili. And, of course, we Texans are fortunate enough to live in a state that is famous for great chili. 

Like so many other foods Texas is known for, you can find a great bowl of chili in every decent cafe and hell, just about every kitchen in town. My mom made a mean bowl of chili. I would typically have seconds and maybe even thirds. And I have to say, my wife can give her a run for her money with the chili she has perfected over time.

But there are times when you want to take it easy and let someone else do the cooking. In that case, it might as well be the best around. And while claiming a joint has the best chili in the Lone Star State is a bold statement, the experts at loveFOOD claim to have found the best chili in the entire state.

I have to say, I’m looking forward to putting their experts to the test the next time I’m in Austin. According to the list of the best bowl of chili in every state, I’ll be making a stop at Texas Chili Parlor on Lavaca Street. Diners say they serve an outstanding bowl of chili with big chunks of beef and no beans, of course. You can select spice levels of “X” to “XXX.” I can’t wait to dig in.
