Knights, Fireworks, and Camel Rides: Inside Texas’ Biggest Renaissance Festival
Are you ready to experience the biggest Renaissance festival in Texas? It’s closer than you think.
I’ll admit, out of all my adventures, I’ve never actually made it to a Renaissance festival. It’s been sitting on my bucket list for years, and every fall I watch photos and videos pop up of people having an absolute blast. The embarrassing part? I only recently learned that the largest Renaissance festival in the world is right here in Texas — and it’s celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
It’s hard to believe I didn’t know more about this event. Around a half-million people attend annually, enjoying everything from themed weekends to elaborate performances. With crowds that big, I’m certain someone I know has gone — so why haven’t I tagged along yet?
This year’s festival kicks off next Saturday and runs weekends through November 30th, including Thanksgiving Friday. Sprawling across 70 acres of festival grounds and 200+ acres of camping, it’s a massive event where history, fantasy, and fun collide.
Step Back in Time at the Texas Renaissance Festival
Expect knights in shining armor jousting on horseback, fire-breathing performers, jugglers, acrobats, and nightly “Royal Fireworks” shows. Special events are planned for All Hallows’ Eve, adding an extra spooky twist to the magic. And yes, you can even ride elephants and camels, because at the Renaissance Festival — why not?
