The hip-hop world lost not one but two young rappers on Monday (June 18). Just hours after XXXTentacion was confirmed dead following a shooting in Deerfield Beach, Fla., Pittsburgh rapper Jimmy Wopo was shot and killed in the city's Middle Hill neighborhood. The rapper was 21 years old.

Following his death, the hip-hop community showed their love for Wopo, with rappers such as Pusha-T, Mac Miller, Chevy Woods, Pouya and more all paying their respects. "Yall Boys rest up Beloved," wrote Trouble on Instagram. "Alotta niggaz got roBBed and popped ova da last kuple weeks! If you outchea in da game on any level, keep ya head on a swivel & #StackPrayAndStayOutTheWay."

Retch also showed love to both Wopo and XXXTentacion, tweeting, "REST IN PARADISE @XXXTENTACION AND MY SLIME @JIMMYWOPO_ YOUNG TALENTED LIVES ENDED WAY TOO SOON, MUCH LOVE AND SUPPORT TO BOTH FAMILIES FORREAL."

A rising star in Pittsburgh thanks to his song "Elm Street," Wopo dropped his Back Against the Wall mixtape in October. Written during a two-month stint in prison, the project showcased Wopo's knack for frontline street music.

XXL previously spoke with Wopo in 2017, when the rapper told us his plans to stay in the game for a long time. According to Wopo, he didn't want to be "no one-hit nigga or two years and gone nigga."
