Happy Birthday, Swizz Beatz! The heatmaker turns 39 years old today (Sept. 13).

Whether he was sampling soul or fiddling with the keys, Beatz was gifted at making hits that were tailored for the streets but accessible enough for the Billboard charts to latch on. Beatz was versatile in his prime; he was behind the boards for Beyonce's quirky "Check On It" and Styles P's weed-smokers anthem "Good Times." Beatz also produced T.I.'s "Bring Em Out," the Jay Z-sampling single that became one of Tip's biggest hits.

Beatz also became one of the producers to see minor solo success. He released two albums: 2002's Swizz Beatz Presents G.H.E.T.T.O. Stories compilation album and 2007's One Man Band Man.

Swizz famously squared off against Just Blaze at a special event back in February that had the entire internet buzzing.

This past July, Swizz Beatz appeared onstage in New York during the Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather press conference in New York and issued a challenge to fellow hitmaker Timbaland. He would later restate that challenge in a social media post.

“Swizz,” Timbo responded. “You have woken up Tim Mosely. Challenge accepted. I’m with the smoke. That’s right. You hear that Game of Thrones. You have woken up the king.”
