Childish Gambino’s “This Is America” Wins Song of the Year at 2019 Grammy Awards
Childish Gambino takes home the award for Song of the Year for his groundbreaking song "This Is America" at the 2019 Grammy Awards Sunday night (Feb. 10).
The song, which was brought to life with an eye-popping video, beat out other chart-climbing records from Kendrick Lamar, SZA, Drake, Ella Mai and more. This is Gambino's third win of the night after he claimed the awards for Best Rap/Sung Performance and Best Music Video.
Despite winning three awards at the Grammys, the rapper, who's also known as actor Donald Glover, wasn't in attendance to accept his golden gramophones. According to The New York Times, Glover, along with Drake and Kendrick Lamar, declined the Recording Academy’s offer to perform at the awards show.
Even though he won't perform on the nationally televised awards show, Childish Gambino still plans to light up the stage at Coachella later this year. 'Bino will be the sole headliner on the first night of the festival.
The rapper/actor has yet to respond to receiving three Grammys. As of this report, his Twitter timeline had been wiped clean and only three posts exist on his Instagram account.
Congratulations to Childish Gambino and his team for another Grammy win.
