Casanova Turns Himself in to Police for Alleged Assault
Last week, Brooklyn rapper Casanova found himself on the wrong side of the law when he was accused of assaulting a woman in a Manhattan diner. He went on to deny the allegations, but the situation seems to be escalating. There was a warrant out for Cas' arrest from the New York Police Department, and he's turned himself in to police as of this morning (Aug. 15). XXL can also confirm that his arraignment is later today.
Niya Rucker, the victim, said that the alleged incident took place at the Good Stuff Diner on August 6 around 4:40 am. She says that Casanova and his friends were also there and that they had an issue with her recording her meal, as they felt she was trying to record the rapper and his crew. She then claims Cas and the people with him attacked her, choking her and dragging her out of her chair. She also alleges that Cas himself grabbed her arm, took her phone, then deleted the footage she was attempting to upload to her Instagram Live.
Niya's injuries from the alleged ordeal were extensive, as she has a loose tooth, broken jaw and stitches in her chin. She also says Cas' crew has been contacting her and trying to convince her to stay quiet. The NYPD launched an investigation, and soon after, put out a warrant for Casanova's arrest.
In the face of all of this, Casanova, who's most recent release is June's Comissary, denies any wrongdoing via a statement from his lawyer, Scott E. Leemon.
"Casanova adamantly denies the allegation that he assaulted anyone," the statement reads. "We are in the process of conducting our own investigation into these false allegations."
