Swizz Beatz, Fat Joe and More React to 15-Year-Old Boy Tragically Murdered in the Bronx
Last Wednesday (June 20), several alleged gang members grabbed 15-year-old Lesandro "Junior" Guzman-Feliz from inside of a Bronx bodega and proceeded to viciously hack the teenager to death.
In the aftermath of this horrific murder, which was carried out because the men believed Junior to be the person who made a homemade sex video with one of their family members, tenants of the hip-hop community have stepped forth to speak on the matter. One such rap luminary is Cardi B, who donated $8,000 to the GoFundMe campaign for Junior this past weekend, addressed the situation in an Instagram post yesterday (June 24).
Posting a photo of Junior's mother, Leandra Feliz, embracing him as he lays in a hospital bed, Cardi writes an impassioned message about the violent nature of the Bronx and what she feels is law enforcement's indifference to tenants of the borough. She makes sure to include the hashtag, #JusticeForJunior, a Twitter phrase meant to draw attention to Junior's case.
"#justiceforjunior R.I.P. .These Bronx streets are ruthless," she writes. "What piss me off the most is that these BX cops be harassing the shit outta people then they see a boy bleeding to death and ask what happen ? uuuummmmmmmm How bout you call the ambulance like ya be calling for back up when ya see nikkas smoking in front of a building !!!!! People be like 'call the police!' 'Call the police!!' But for what the operators be asking you questions for like 4 minutes on the phone with an attitude and the cops come maaa lateeee."
While five suspects have been arrested for the murder—one of them being 19-year-old Kevin Alvarez, who's been charged with second-degree murder and gang assault—the damage done by this killing won't soon be forgotten by anyone.
