Three of hip-hop's best MCs are coming together to form a new group. Rhymefest and Phonte broke the news last week that they would be joining forces with Black Thought to start a group.

While details of when the trio will put out new music is still scarce, Phonte teased on Instagram that fans could expect something "soon." Producer S1 has also said he will serve as executive producer for the group's upcoming project and revealed they have already been recording songs.

Black Thought and Phonte are no strangers to being in rap groups. Thought has been the lead MC of the legendary Roots crew since their start in the late 1980s, while Phonte was a member of Little Brother along with Big Pooh and producer 9th Wonder. Although Rhymefest has not been a member of a group, the Chicago spitter did join forces with Dayne Jordan and Uhmeer for DJ Jazzy Jeff's M3 album earlier this year.

The upcoming project from the three MCs will be Black Thought's latest collaborative effort after dropping his Streams of Thought Vol. 1 project with 9th Wonder in June. The five-track project includes guest appearances from Rapsody, Styles P and Kirby.

Phonte has also remained busy this year, releasing his No News Is Good News album in March. Featuring 10 songs, the album includes guest spots from Freddie Gibbs on the song "Change of Mind" and Eric Roberson on "Find That Love Again."
