2013 Oscars – Daniel Day Lewis Unsurprisingly Scores Best Actor Win [VIDEO]

Daniel Day-Lewis won the Best Actor Oscar for 'Lincoln' -- his third such trophy, which set a new record.

The method actor beat out fellow nominees like the completely bored Joaquin Phoenix (‘The Master'), Denzel Washington (‘Flight‘), Hugh Jackman (‘Les Miserables’), and Bradley Cooper (‘Silver Linings Playbook’) to score his Academy Award hat trick.

He began his speech with a couple of nods at his unconventional acting, saying, "I had actually been committed to play Margaret Thatcher and Meryl [Streep] was Steven's [Spielberg] first choice for Lincoln ... I'd like to see that version."

As expected, he humbly thanked his fellow nominees, referring to them as "my equals, my betters." And in addition to adorably thanking his wife for living with the strange cast of characters he's played and being "a perfect companion to all of them," he also thanked "the mysteriously beautiful, mind, body and spirit of Abraham Lincoln."

Surprisingly, he didn't yell, "Lincoln out!" before dropping his mic.
