When Plants Attack!

Ok so this is happening at my house and I'm a little freaked out. My hibiscus plant has wrapped itself around one of my planters. Creeeepy!  Maybe I watch too many scary movies, because I'm thinking this thing will keep growing, make its way into my house and attack me in my sleep.

I consulted a plant expert, a.k.a. my mom and she says apparently this is what these type of plants do? Wrap themselves around whatever is around and in this case its my poor unsuspecting hanging plant, 'run for your life my little baby!' lol This totally caught me off guard when I first saw it and my 8 year old freaked out, so that was well worth it!
