We are excited to be back with our friends at Amenti Beauty School in Odessa this Wednesday. The last time we hung out with Nancy and our friends at Amenti was July and the students were stlll learning and going through their cosmetology courses.

Like many parents, for the past couple of weeks, we have been doing the back to school routine. School clothes shopping, making sure the correct school supplies have been bought, are shots are up-to-date? Dr, eye dr and dentist appointments made to make sure all is well with the littles and paperwork galore is filled out.

So it is indeed back to school time for our young ones and as I tend to the tedious task of school supply shopping let me tell you, I have had a couple of blast from the past reminders that are giving me life! If you have not browsed a school supply aisle lately or your kids are grown, let me show you what has made a comeback...

When school starts back up again in the fall, many parents whose children have been wearing uniforms for school for quite some time now, may no longer have to. MISD made the announcement that for the 2021-2022 school year, they will be 'waiving the dress code for some schools in Midland.'

I think we can all still agree that last year was an unprecedented year. When you hear anyone talk about 2020, you always hear, 'it was a weird year' to say the least. Imagine how any graduating class, be it high school or college felt. Their chance to walk across the stage and accept their diploma was stripped from them for obvious reasons. However, this year they will be given that opportunity..

If you are a parent, you probably have gifts upon gifts upon gifts. You know which 'gifts' I'm talking about....the ones made in school by your kids! It starts out in preschool with their little hands dipped in paint, then made into a pretty little butterfly or turkey at Thanksgiving. Then you upgrade to drawings and pretty pictures they color.

Have you ever had what Oprah has called an 'a-ha moment?' A point in time where you thought wow, I feel dumb, that wasn't as easy as I thought it was going to be. That is me currently with my kids homework. I think I'm pretty smart. 'You is kind, You is smart, You is important.' lol At least that is what I have to tell myself after struggling to help my 2nd grader with her math homework.  Read Mor

Add this to the top five things that I absolutely hate! Picking up and or dropping off kids at school. Why have we not come up with a solution? Why is this the one time of day that I get frustrated and go home and immediately need a glass of wine? Can we let the fine folks at Chick-fil-A take care of the line to pick up kids afterschool? You know they would handle it and do it with a smile!  Read

Ok now that (some) kids are back in school, it is that time again to get those school lunches packed! My children are allowed to take lunch from home a couple of times a week and I thought I would share what my 7 year old daughter would take every day, if I allowed her to.

For those of us who worked from home when quarantine began and now possibly have gone back to work, have you decided yet which you like better? There are pros and cons to both. I know many of us truly enjoyed being home with our children or families but we sometimes like the routine.
