Drinking Water Fountains in West Texas?

If there is one thing us West Texans know, is that 'You Don't Drink The Water?' I love when out of town guest come to my house and try to grab a glass of water straight from the tap. Depending on how much I love them; sometimes I let them drink it and  the lucky ones I stop from doing it. The other day I was out and about and noticed there was a public drinking fountain.  I took a double take at it and wondered who was the last person to take a sip out of it. Then I wondered why do these things even exist here in West Texas? I mean if we can't drink the water what's the purpose? You think it would go the way of the Public Phone Booth and become obsolete. Try to find one of those these days. I've seen the public drinking fountains at the mall, at the gym and at my kid's' school. Really? Do we allow our kids to drink from that? I guess the water will do no harm if you drink it but they don't get used that often. I say it's a matter of time before they disappear too, at least here in West Texas.
