4 Remotes On The Table

I just noticed I have 4 remotes on my living room table. And, I'm not even sure what one of those remotes does. I have the 'main' remote which controls my cable and DVR. That remote is cool because it turns on my T.V. and Cable and controls volume. But, here  is where the other remotes come in. Remote #2 controls my DVD player. That remote is for my Red Box Nights. I need that remote because remote 1 will not control my DVD player; trust I've tried to program it to no avail. Then there's remote #3. This remote controls my Surround Sound. I spent about 2 hours trying to get remote #1 or #2 to control my surround sound, but to no avail.  SO, there it is 4 remotes, 3 that work and 1 universal remote that isn't that 'Universal".  And, to think growing up I had no remotes on the living room table; if you wanted a channel changed you got your butt up and did it with your hands. I think it's time for the TV REMOTE app that actually works. I'm on my I-phone all the time anyway why not use it to change the channel.
