Thanksgiving

There is not much better eatin' on the planet than what we do right here in Texas on Thanksgiving. Friends and family as far as the eye can see, mouths watering cause they know soon it will be eating time and fried turkey is one of the best-tasting ways to prepare that giant bird for the family, but it's also the most dangerous way to prepare that bird.

I've used this method many, many times in the past when preparing chicken breasts and it makes all the difference in the world, albeit on a much smaller scale.

I came across a website that has some Thanksgiving fun facts that I never knew and I am shooketh! According to bestlife.com, the first Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade had live animals instead of balloons and more things you probably never knew about turkey day!

Among the many things many of us have to be thankful for this year, is a warm meal that we are all currently busy shopping and prepping for. Sometimes in the hustle and bustle, we tend to forget that not everyone will be spending time with family and friends, much less have that full Thanksgiving spread.

Family traditions. We all have them. I remember growing up, all of my tia's, tio's, cousin's and everyone would meet at one person's house this time of year, every year and make tamales. I mean I didn't make them, my parents did, all of the adults actually, this was their bonding time and me and my cousins would run around like lunatics playing, yelling, having the best time!

Yes to Thanksgiving leftovers or nah? If you are a leftover person, how long do you continue eating leftovers after the holiday? A day, 2 days, what is acceptable? I'm not going to lie, even lastnight I was still eating ham and dressing. I'm just not tired of it. I get it once a year and go all out for days. As I am typing this story I'm thinking of the broccoli casserole in the fridge for dinner.

Next week is already going to be Thanksgiving, I cannot believe time has gone by so fast. Who is ready turkey, dressing and all the trimmings? Rolls, biscuits, casseroles, mashed potatoes and more importantly, DESSERT! Whatcha gonna do with that dessert? In our family, I am in charge of one of the desserts, the pumpkin pie.

We are 15 days away from Thanksgiving! Seriously, normally we would all be super excited for turkey day, the food, the family, the football but this year with the pandemic, things may be looking a little different for some people. Many people have barely left their homes for things like groceries and necessities, much less are they worried about the upcoming holiday.
