Moving from San Antonio to Midland-Odessa brought some surprises—especially the sheer number of grocery store options. For someone used to H-E-B or Walmart, the Permian Basin's variety was totally unexpected.
Wow, it is crazy that since the pandemic, we have gotten used to the fact that there are shortages on various grocery items. We went through the toilet paper shortage, Lysol, disinfectant wipe, canned good and more recently for me, a regular OG Fritos shortage. (I've seen them slowly make their way back on the shelves by the way).
Several different people have told me about the self-checkout getting a bit out of hand at Walmart. Including Leo who said the Walmart in Midland was all self-check, like no one there to ring up your items. I thought yeah he's exaggerating a bit. (I never go to Midland Walmart so I wouldn't know tbh) But this past weekend I was out of town and hit up a Walmart. OMG.
These crazy times we are living in right now have us all a little on edge. Actually a little may be an understatement. Trust, I get it. As a former homeschool teacher (we all were last year), working mother and single mom of 3, I feel what everyone else is going through. We are all doing our very best to keep it together these days but what I went through recently with someone at Walmart was compl
You probably hear me on the regular talking about our friends with United Supermarkets and Market Street. It is no secret that that is where Leo and I shop. Not together but separately and often. lol I am a fan of the ready meals, Leo prefers the bakery. Those thumbprint cookies tho!
A friend of mine sent me this photo as I was curious to know what life was like in Odessa/Midland currently. She informed me that a trip to the grocery store is nothing like it used to be. I could not believe the line, (she sent me several photos) it was all the way back to the garden center at the Wal Mart on JBS.
Ok if you are like me and had to grab snacks and necessities over the weekend, for the kids who will be at home for the next couple of weeks, it was interesting to venture out to the grocery store to say the least. I only needed a few things but the ONE thing I really needed was nowhere to be found on shelves at the store I was in.....
So I'm shopping around for groceries the other day and as I'm heading over to the meat section I came across something rather interesting. Honestly in my entire 39 years (wink, wink) I have NEVER seen this! I feel like growing up grocery shopping with momma, I would have come across these....PERO NO! Check out what I'm talking about....
