Hundreds of ‘Jack In The Box’ Locations Closing In Texas
It’s a bad week for curly fry lovers. Jack in the Box just announced plans to shut down between 150 and 200 of its restaurants as part of a new cost-cutting plan, and while they didn’t say which locations are on the chopping block, we can’t help but wonder if some of El Paso’s beloved spots might be saying goodbye.
Jack’s Cutting the Fat… and Maybe the Burgers Too
In a move to get “JACK on Track” (yes, that’s the real name), the company’s new CEO is slashing underperforming locations to improve finances and shift toward a simpler, more profitable model. The company is also ditching its dividend, selling off real estate, and putting Del Taco on the auction block.
If that sounds like a financial fire sale, well, it kind of is. Jack in the Box says the closures will mostly hit aging locations that haven’t been pulling their weight. Sound familiar? If you’ve ever waited 45 minutes in a drive-thru at 2 a.m. only to be told they’re out of tacos and ice cream, your favorite Jack might be on the list.
Could El Paso Locations Be At Risk?
Let’s be honest, some of El Paso’s Jack in the Box spots are vintage. Charming, but vintage. The company said most closures will happen between now and the end of 2025, and while they haven’t released a list of locations, there are signs that Texas is definitely in the conversation. With dozens of locations spread across the state and corporate eyes looking at performance metrics, it’s not wild to think the Borderland might lose a few curly fry outposts.
And with same-store sales already down 4.4 percent and 12 locations closing just this last quarter, it’s not exactly looking like a happy hour deal for franchisees.

So far, there’s been no official word on whether El Paso locations will be hit, but if you’ve got a favorite, it might be time to treat yourself to a few extra late-night runs just in case.
