McDonald's is preparing for trends to continue that show people want to drive-through and pick up instead of dine in at its restaurants. McDonald's has even decided to open a new concept location in Texas that is centered around it's app, a smaller dining room, and a quick way to pick up food.

A new McDonald's opened in White Settlement, TX on December 1st, but it's not a regular McDonald's. This is the future. The new restaurant is completely designed around mobile orders and even has a drive-through lane for those customers who order through the McDonald's app. And the mobile orders even come out on a conveyor belt for quick service that is literally grab and go.

According to the Houston Chronicle, the inside of the restaurant is smaller too since it's not designed for dining in. Kiosks are designed for to-go orders and there is an area dedicated to third party delivery drivers.

During the pandemic we saw a lot of restaurants and fast food places shift in how their business worked. More embraced to go orders and found ways to do things with fewer employees. And it turns out that a lot of people enjoying picking up to-go orders and taking them home.

According to the Houston Chronicle, the concept store is the only store like this for now, but that could change.

For now, White Settlement is the only place in the country where this McDonald’s model can be found, but the company said it is part of their growth strategy.

“The technology in this restaurant not only allows us to serve our customers in new, innovative ways, it gives our restaurant team the ability to concentrate more on order speed and accuracy, which makes the experience more enjoyable for everyone,” said Keith Vanecek, the franchisee operating the test restaurant.

I don't know about you, but I love ordering on apps. It makes things easier and most of the time, my food comes out right.
