Here Is The One Item That Texans Should Be Hoarding
There is one item that experts say may become a little scare.
The Cause
The port workers are on strike, this means some goods that come into the U.S. on ships may be delayed or cancelled. Despite the hoarding by some very ill-informed people, toilet paper is not one of them. In fact, it's off that people have chosen such a weird thing to hoard. You would think something that would make a little more sense like canned soup or batteries, but for some reason, some people don't know there are work arounds for toilet paper.
Preparations
The truth is, many retailers anticipated this strike and they increased their stock because of it. The strike is also not likely to last long because neither political party wants to be blamed for it's effects. Americans also have quite a bit of fatigue about this kind of thing right now as well. In short, no one wants this to drag out.
The Item
Experts say that the one item that may become in short supply is...bananas. The majority of bananas are imported and do come in ships so maintaining a fresh supply could be a problem. It's also easier for some of us to say that we can do without bananas, but bananas are the #1 best seller at Walmart and other stores for a reason.
They Expire
You can't really prolong the life of bananas. Once the green bananas are gassed and made ready for the stores, there's no turning back. You could freeze some for things like banana bread, but the uses after being frozen are pretty limited. So enjoy those fresh bananas while you can because you may have to do without for a little bit.
