Massive Sandcastles Tower Over South Padre Island This Week
(KNUE-FM) Being creative with art is something that has always been a struggle for me, but there are so many talented people here in Texas it’s fun to see what they can create. And lots of fun art will be on display now through Sunday, October 5th as it’s the 2025 edition of Sandcastle Days on South Padre Island.
What Is Sandcastle Days?
Most of us remember using plastic shovels and pails to create towers or walls with sand and we might call it a sandcastle. But there are some artists that can take that to the extreme and create intricate works of art from sand. Some of the very best will be creating sand sculptures over the next few days for everyone to admire.

The Economic Impact of Sandcastle Days
According to My San Antonio, the annual event is also fantastic for generating revenue as it generates $1.3 million for the area. The event is free to attend and has been going on for 37 years.
Some of the sculptures on display will get as high as 6 to 12 feet in the air, we are talking about real professionals who put a lot of thought into what they are creating.

Can’t Attend? See It Online
One of the things I love about technology is that even if you don’t have time this weekend to make it to South Padre Island, you can still see some of the great work being done just by looking on social media.

While the sandcastles won’t last long, this event is just one more reason to love the Lone Star State. All of the most fun events take place in Texas.
