The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is encouraging Texans to support conservation by purchasing one of the state’s specialty license plates. These Conservation License Plates cost just $30, and $22 of that fee goes directly toward Texas-based conservation efforts.

Order Now, No Need to Wait for Renewal

These plates are available for vehicles, trailers, and motorcycles and can be ordered at any time. You don’t have to wait for your annual registration renewal; the cost will be prorated based on your expiration date.

TPWD and TxDOT is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its Conservation License Plate Program by inviting Texans to vote on a new design for the Horned Lizard plate, the first and still most popular option. That one plate alone has raised more than $3.4 million.

Every Plate Design Helps a Cause

In addition to the horned lizard, other plate options include the monarch butterfly, hummingbird, bighorn sheep, rattlesnake, white-tailed deer, largemouth bass, and roadrunner. Each design supports different areas like wildlife conservation, fisheries, or Texas state parks.

Nonprofit Plates Also Make an Impact

TPWD also sponsors ten nonprofit-related plates. Eight of these benefit conservation causes, with $22 of the $30 fee going directly into a special fund. Those dollars are passed on in full to the nonprofit partner.
