Trae tha Truth Premieres New Song With Problem, Brings Out Special Guests at SXSW Fader Fort
SXSW is always full of surprises, and Friday (March 15) was chock full of them. While everyone thought the next performer was Future, the masses of people who gathered at the Fader Fort that evening soon realized that there was a slight change in the schedule. But within minutes of the special guests taking the stage, no one seemed to mind.
After DJ Skee laid down the beat and gave a quick introduction, Trae tha Truth walked out with his entourage and two big signs revealing the album art for his forthcoming LP, 'Banned,' which is the first album he'll be releasing via Grand Hustle Records.
After performing 'Getting Paid' (sans Wiz Khalifa), he told the crowd that because he's a special guest the set won't be right unless he goes big. This cues Problem to take the stage, and perform a bit of 'Like Whaaat' before the two premiere their new track together, 'Yea Hoe,' which they have played a couple of times during SXSW already -- but perhaps not to a crowd of this magnitude.
As the set went on, the stage started to overflow with rapper after rapper including Yo Gotti, B.o.B., Travi$ Scott and DJ Drama. But the fort erupted once T.I. came out, as no one ever expected that. "We got the whole hustle game right here," T.I. announced feeling at home with his label family.
With everyone onstage including Pharrell Williams, who joined in later, a medley of songs including B.o.B.'s 'We Still in This Bitch,' T.I.'s 'What You Know' and Trae's 'No Help.' Amongst all the energy and chaos on the stage, Tip made sure to take a moment and give a shoutout to Lil Wayne and wish him a swift recovery after his hospital visit -- perhaps one of the more endearing moments during the set.
Although the Fader Fort had more surprises in store later that evening and into Saturday, this performance was one that was so unexpected, making it one no one will forget.
