It may not be something that is known about in our city. When you think about homelessness, you may think it only applies to 'bigger cities,' but unfortunately it is a harsh reality that is here in the Permian Basin as well. According to Newswest 9, 'at this moment, MISD has 270 students enrolled that are identified as homeless and more than 350 who are inactive.'

When school starts back up again in the fall, many parents whose children have been wearing uniforms for school for quite some time now, may no longer have to. MISD made the announcement that for the 2021-2022 school year, they will be 'waiving the dress code for some schools in Midland.'
